Are your barbers raising prices? The $5 increase is a "cleaning fee" ... Barbers should be sanitary already.... customers by appointment only and are booked all day.... My wife's shop is finally able to open again on Monday. She will be raising prices. My comments are specific to Minnesota, but, probably typical country wide. The price increase is justified. Yes, they are already clean, but, now they have to sanitize between each customer. New shop building requirements are in place including different ventilation systems. Booked solid then and now are two different things. Social distancing and 25% occupancy slash income. Add to that additional PPE that slow down the entire process, to say nothing of the comfort/stress levels. My first inclination was to keep prices the same and bill the difference to Governor Tim Jong Walz, but, decided to save myself that one additional headache.

I can see that if she has to add or upgrade ventilation, that's completely understandable. My barber doesn't have to do that. What ppe will slow her down? Barbers and Salons can operate at 25% capacity but how does a barber do that when they have 1 chair? Barbers operate at 100% all day. Sanitizing equipment doesn't take but a few seconds and is done anyway.

12 dollars locally for a haircut and fade in the beard about every over month I go to the city and pay 20 for a haircut and a proper beard trim.
I could get one for 8 up until last year when the old town barber retired.
I gave the local girl a 50 on friday for a haircut b/c she's been out of work and I've been working overtime. she does my haircut at lunch or after hours so I dont have to miss any work and has never given me one bit of grief over moving appointments

last cut was in November for a funeral.
now 7 months in my kids are telling me I look like Redneck Jesus so I may just go with it.
before covid it was around 20 and a tip for the girl that cut my hair .
the barber in town retired and cut 2-3 days a week and I had to take time off work to get a cut mid day when he worked was not worth it any more.
the girl does a nice job and has a 1-2 nights a week she works till 7.

I've cut my own since I got out of the Marine Corps in1956. I do a great job if I do say so myself.
