Salted fish doesn't spoil. It's what they ate on those long ocean trips before refrigeration. Same with red meat and hams. None of It needed refrigeration.
Nothing easier then shoving a chunk of salted fish In a hole.

And If your bait rots before a catch then your not on location LOL

Bacon grease or a combination of grill scrapping and fryer oil all mixed together would be my first choice. Buy a jerky shooter and fill the tube with your bait and just shoot the bait Into the hole. Smear It around the lip of the hole or pipe and your good to go. And grease won't spoil.

The other thing you might try Is find where you can buy new empty caulking gun tubes. Just fill them with your bait combination and drive In the plug to seal the tube.I don't know where you can buy those tubes but I know that they are available.

Ebay and Amazon both sell empty caulking containers.

Thanks for the tip Bob I just may get some. It would be easier to use those then to keep filling my jerky shooter.

I have been catching skipjacks and shad. Going to grind them. As fishy at they smell. Do I need to put salt or sodium benzoate or both on asap? Like to make a paste/ chunks mixed together. Going to use it in dp some.
