Going to be culture shock for sure coming from Alaska
Humidity, heat, snakes, scorpions, spiders and more
Good news is there are no grizzlies, polar bears, wolverines, snow for more than a few days, days that last months, nights that last months, etc

Gators don't scare me as much. Kind of like bears, I guess.

I'm trying to talk my son into moving to Colorado, since I have family there.
No offense intended, Texans. I grew up in Ohio, and even the heat and humidity there was too much for me.

There’s a big West Fraser sawmill in Henderson, that’s about all I know of it. I live several hours north in Paris, which is almost in Oklahoma.

The country and vegetation in the snake picture remind me of Africa. A place that's only habitable in winter time.

Mr. June, have you run into any others besides Diamondbacks? I don’t mind snakes and let them live everywhere except where I’m asked/told to kill them and even then a few get a pass. Alligators I don’t mind. They are more of an issue trying to fish than anything else. Especially from the banks. They are like buzzards swooping in when fighting a fish. About the only thing that concerns me in the dark are hogs...and ironically I’ll hunt them in the dark. Guess it’s that adrenaline rush you get, lol. The only thing that’s ever put me up a tree has been hogs. Most everything else will leave you alone if given their space. Wanna Be, We have coral and copper heads in abundance. I have markets for all snake hides so they get a nice tan job and shipped out. Helps pay the bills. I don't mess with the rat snakes, whip snakes, and water moccasins. The rest, I have no idea what they are except fast.

At least there shouldn't be many Canadians. lol Jim Tons of Canadian snowbirds there in winter. I went to SE Texas for 2 weeks this past January. Coming from Alaska and coming from here the same. You might find too many fences there. Like real land fences and rules fences. Rules fences = regulations. Can't go anywhere without running into fences and rules. Must be because there are too many people. Would like to have seen it when people were scarce. Nice place to visit but could not live there and even hot in January so would not survive the summer. Colarado sounds nice but was never there. I think Davey Crockett said something about Texas being as close to heaven as you can get on earth.

Mark June that is a large lad & Etex if you keep posting pictures like that I might sell my kayaks. Cheap too LOL.
James, I think you'd like Texas. The west side of Austin is full of Cali refugees. The left there because gov was up in their biz and taxing / regulating them out of existence and of course now when a new law or regulation is put to the voters they write in 23 more.
I dont even have to exaggerate LOL. These ppl miss the forest for a field mouse nest b/c they are convinced its s spotted owl.

Yeah, I think Colorado is getting pretty Californiaized, from what I can tell.
But you can flyfish for trout there.

You cant fly fish in Texas? Be very careful when you tell the Texans this, at least some of them can get a bit feisty LOL
