I send the kids out and pick all the greens for salad. After a couple years we barely have any now.

Also spot spray with weed killer.

Seems like the 2nd round is just starting here.i used a fertilizer with pre-emergent at the end of may, and didn't get many dandelions, but lots of violets and clover. I walked the yard and sprayed 2-4d and it's much better now. I'm just starting to get some more dandelions in places that.sont get hit with the fertilizer or spray now, like along the edges, cracks in cement etc.

Some seed catalogs actually sell dandelion seeds. I once spoke to a former NYC resident who said some people want them in their yard. They think they're attractive!

They don't bother me much. Other than being an invasive species there isn't anything to worry about. People do far more ecological harm killing them than just leaving them be.

I like them in my salad and eat the lowers in tempura batter then deep fried. Got nothing against them at all. But then again I don't play golf and don't need or want a putting green style lawn. Heck I don't even own a lawn mower. blush

Excellent early season bee feed. It's pollen has an almost complete amino acid/protein profile for bees.

I get them every spring. Flowers galore. By this time of year they don't flower very much anymore. They are still there they just don't flower. Could be because I mow my grass 1.5" high this time of year. place looks like a golf course when I'm done. wink

Dandelion is good for your lawn and is telling you the problems with your soil just by being there.

Dandelions are bi-annuals spraying in the spring works but the very best time to get a good kill is early to mid-September when they are storing energy to make it through the winter to be ready for spring. I get some 2-4-D and use the water hose method as I only have a bit over .8 acres and the hoses can reach. If I spray in the spring I knock them back good for 2 maybe 3 years. If I spray in the fall I get 3 to maybe 5 years.

My neighbor has a dandelion plantation so it's an ongoing thing for me.

I've been busy pulling my dandelions with 1 of those green dandy pullers. It works good. Good excercise too. It's 1 of those tools about 40" long with nails on the end. Step on it, twist, pull, and release it into a pail. I basically got my yard aerated from using it this past week, lol.

They disappear when the weather gets hot here. It's only a cool weather weed for us . They're supposed to be nutritious for humans.

Yep, it's the first real bee feed we have up here after a long winter.

Dandelions are one of the best things a bee keeper can see come spring.

They have about all gone to seed here now.

They say the root is good for your heart. Unlike my dad I don’t have any I’ll feelings towards my dandelions. I’m a bee keeper and let the bees have at it.

I encourage the little bugger's. They keep my lawn looking green when it dries up here and the grass turns brown.
