I know we have a few Canadians poking around on here, and I have a favor to ask of you. My girlfriend of 2 years is a Canadian from HamOnt, and needless to say the border closure has hit us hard. It's been about 3 months since we've had a chance to visit since the coronavirus hit, as opposed to our usual month between visits (I work 4 weeks on and then get 2 weeks off on the tugboat I work on, which works out well for a long distance relationship), and since we're not a legally recognized couple in any way (common law, married, etc), the update allowing immediate family into Canada hasn't helped us.
So, I was wondering if you'd be willing to sign this petition.
It doesn't open the border completely, which I know most Canadians are understandably against, and it leaves the quarantine requirements in place. The only thing it would change is how immediate family/common law couples are defined.

As far as i know you can fly here, just cant drive across the border?

I've heard the same thing, but as far as I can tell, the opposite is true. She can fly to me, but I can't fly to her. If she does fly to me though, she has to quarantine for 2 weeks when she gets back, so 2 weeks alone, not working, can't even be with her family, etc all for 10 days with me. We'll do it if it comes to that, but for now we're trying for better options.
