I catch a ton of these little rascals every year and I’ve always called them Moles. Today I was catching one every half hour or so.
I was curious to know what their real name was, so I googled them and from the pics I seen it looks like this is actually called a pocket gopher.

Anyone know for sure? What do you guys call them?

That's a gopher 'round here. Moles are black.

Feet and tail are the big giveaways Plus moles you have to dig em out of the ground, seldom do you see them above the dirt unless something else dug em up.

Not a mole, they have big pink hands like catchers mitts, we have plenty of moles but not the gophers here, good luck taking em out

Pocket gopher, a rodent. Notice the rodent incisors, and the gap between them and teeth further back in the mouth, like other rodents (think beaver). The "pocket" that gives pocket gophers their common name, are fur-lined pouches beside the mouth (not part of the mouth) to put bits of food (plants) into to take back to nest area of tunnels. Moles are not rodents, so teeth are much different, as moles don't eat plants.

Bounty is ten bucks in some.

Dang and I thought I was rocking when I was getting .50 for a pair of feet when I was a kid and avaraging 40 dollars a week during the summer break as a kid

Heck even back in the 80s when I was trapping them for some of the big vegetable farms were I was living in exchange for other trapping access as well as the dollar bounty for though I was doing good averaging 40/50 a day in my spare time

At 10 bucks each i would have become a full time gopher trapper

In one township close by the bounty is $8/gopher. Then the local cable comp matches that since the gophers have acquired a taste for the fiber optics cables. And if your really lucky you can get the landowner to match the bounty making it $24/pocket gopher. Understandably it has gotten harder to find any gophers in that township!

Did you check it pockets for change?

We used to have a $1 bounty on gophers here but they did away with it.

What's everyone's favorite traps for um? 0's death klutch black holes?

How do you catch them? I have a chipmunk problem.

I used DK's or #0 Victor LS and have had good luck but you do get the occasional smart one.

I use a Black Hole trap.....open up their hole, put trap in and its a done deal !!
