Got rolling today after a half day start last week and a 4” rain (by the way seems like we never get rain) Dad, younger brother and some of my boys are in the field. I’m up to my ears in irrigating Pray everyone in the field has a safe harvest. Funny how I didn’t worry so much 10 years ago. Darn kids anyway.lol I spent my afternoon by myself pulling a irrigation well.

Both quail and pheasant seem to have had good hatch’s. No bad hail storms yet so we should have a good bird season

Kansas cat the boys should be cutting wheat against good cover today. That will give me a real good idea of how good the hatch was. I’ll let you know what they say.

Get r dun and good luck with harvest. Been hay time in NC, got 8 fields baled today. Do yall have a market for wheat straw in your area? A lot more is being left in windrows to be square baled around here this year. Saw a bale bandit today gathering small squares in bricks and loaded on goosenecks with a big skid steer. I guess all the straw is used on road projects and subdivisions around here, farmland is disappearing quick. Growing houses.

People in the northern states still trying to combine corn from last year yet. Been to wet to get and was to wet to plant this spring. You are fortunate to be able to do that.

Able to double crop soybeans after any wheat in your area? Neighbor farmer here is trying a 73 day corn behind some wheat , got it planted last Thursday. Interesting to see how he makes out.
John No, it’s to dry here for double crop dry land corn. We can barely raise continuous crop wheat here. If you get lucky you can raise feed behind wheat but it’s a once every three to five year deal. Here’s a pic of wheat that is planted on ground that had corn on it last year. It finally got rain in May. Fields like this are making 17-23bu/ac. Big money makers lol
