I asked our county Sheriff that at a council meeting. He said "I'm going to deputize a whole lotta people."
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

From what I've seen and heard working in New jersey and New York and Maryland, I believe that. Most of the cops in those states are more than willing to take your guns and lock you up for exercising a basic constitutional right.
Eh...wot?

Neither is half the Country.
My local sheriffs are very pro-gun. And generally PA is a pretty pro-gun state. But we are surrounded by liberal controlled, anti-gun states. where the cops are on board with the anti-2A agenda.
Eh...wot?

I would say the police force would be a representative crossection of the body politic as a whole.

There may be a few places where police won't confiscate. Looking at world history, I don't know of one instance where the police or military refused orders to strip people of rights.

A lot of LEOs have made it clear they will take no part in such actions. Same here. Most guys won't do it as most street cops are strict second amendment supporters (another thing you wont hear on the news) Locally there are guys standing on corners in front of businesses with AKs that just get a wave from the police. That said, what will the next generation do...or guys working in right to work states where any kind of refusal of order is an instant termination (without recourse).

Don’t come to far west. Oregon’s on the list to "legislate" background checks for ammunition. Our government saved some budget money in law enforcement by cutting the OSP budget for the instant background checks for firearms purchases. What used to be maybe 30 minutes, is now between 30 min and 6 days, seems random who gets through and how fast. Out here, it doesn’t matter how our majority votes, it matters what all three branches of the state government thinks best fits their ideals and thoughts. There’s several examples, but the same people keep electing the same people, expecting different results. They don’t get it.
The west coast is not the place to be.

The guys with the AK's on the corner in Atlanta said the cops better not show their faces-they aint welcome.
