Speaking of this movie... Back in 2009, I was hearing about them wanting to get rid of it and hunted the internet until I found a copy of it. It is the greatest, but after a little time here I located. I tried to copy it to a disc, but was unable to. It is in an .avi format. I tried everything I could to convert it to .mp4 format or something else I use to convert to a dis, but could do it. I believe it is the full movie, about 90 minutes and abt 690 mb.
I will be happy to try and email it to anyone to see if it can be emailed in that size. If you send me an email address.

BTW.. anyone that thinks this a racist movie... should be taken out and hung with a 13 knot rope.

we have it somewhere.... I'm a bit confused why it was considered racist.

Because it had black folks in... after they were free... and actually working for white folks... which most of heathens today don't understand what that word means.

The TV Show Golden Girls just had an episode removed from Hulu because it included someone wearing a mud mask facial treatment. EVERYTHING is racist.

Come on, Gary. You're a writer and actor, you claim? Then why can't you put yourself in the shoes of a black person watching this movie?

Blacks used to be called "tar babies." The film's literal tar baby is a euphemism or metaphor for a real black person. Touch them and they will stick to you.

All the old writings I've read said that Brer rabbit was beloved to black people because they saw themselves in him tricking the whites and outsmarting them.

If black folks don't like it, maybe they could try not watching it.

So is it okay to banish a movie if the public deem it racist? How is that different than burning a book? What about Faulkner? I don't think he has a book without the N word in it.

BLM needs to be gone with the wind.....amazing to see so many people, companies, institutions and governments running scared of a few black folks. Apply the rule of law to everything and that's it.......the rule of law in the USA is supposed to be the Constitution not where black folks have 'special' rights....its nauseating and needs to have an end put to it.

Me too. There is no difference. We ALL have the right to choose. If you don't like something don't buy it, don't read it, tell your youngins why. If a feller starts up a non gay bait shop in the heart of gayville, he won't sell well and has to close up shop, go home with nothing and can't provide. It's really that simple. Freedom, corrects everything.

Who banished a movie? As I understand it, the copyright owner decided to withdraw the movie from publication. That's their right.

In his books Faulkner put the N-word in the mouths of characters, i.e., in dialog.

But your point is valid. The N-word used to be in common use in the South and among some Northerners. Faulkner, a Southerner, used the word in private letters and speech. But in his novels and short fiction he always portrayed blacks as fully-realized human beings, with their own thoughts and emotions.

Black people find the movie offensive, I'm told. I did a thought exercise and imagined I was black, and how I might be offended.

I didn't say I, James, was offended. I don't have any reason or right to be offended by that film.

What about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry finn?
I molded myself after those two in grade 5.
