that agree with our lifestyle, e.g. pro-gun rights, pro-trapping, pro-hunting, pro-family, pro-religion, pro-law enforcement, anti-abortion, plus politicians that will support our ideas, etc. Which ones do you think? I will also include the states that you think that will remain red and not eventually turn into blue states in the near future.

The problem is that every state has it's " population centers" . I am sure that there are parts of states (even new york) that are decent . If i had to pick a few , I would guess N,S Dakota, wyoming, nebraska , montana. I am sure the3re are a few others. Your state doesn't even look too bad to me -- have to consider the perspective (I am not on the east side of my state).

I like it here. Not perfect but I can do what I like to do.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Overall, Iowa is pretty good.
One thing that I think helps here is the population is spread fairly evenly across the state, so that there is no huge imbalance of power.

Nebraska is definitely hard to beat. Glad we’re considered fly over country. Know a lot of good honest folks. In regards to a place where politicians listen to you I think you’ll be hard pressed to find a place where that happens consistently.

Truth is, most of NY and most of my NJ are very nice and like you describe. The problem is that the population centers have more votes and elect all of the people who make all the rules and those rules are not compatible with those of us who live outside the cities.

I think the problem is any where that is nice , the wrong people are fleeing their dung holes to go live there.

WY , have a customer there , she tells me you can't afford a place near Jackson , and the people are getting unbearable to live with.

MT my wife's coworker is from there has family still out there , Hollywood drove up the price of land beyond where normal people can afford.

the ND might be safe a while longer

I have an aunt talking about leaving TX dislikes rude , foreigners that have taken over around Plano.

if you have a place you are from and you like it , might be time to fight because the country is running out of places to hide from it's problems.

sure not all of every state is tainted , but more places ever day have a stink descending on them.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Pa is OK if you can stay away from Philly, Pitts, and Erie.

Kentucky is very similar to Trapdog's description of Iowa. The population is fairly dispersed so it's not being taken over by big city liberals, not yet anyway.

The problem with the truly conservative states like Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana is the very low populations. It doesn't take very many escapees from Cali to turn the whole state left. Take Wy for example where the total voting age population is just under 500K as compared with just the city of LA with a population of over 12 million.

The thing about out West is it’s often tough to find acreage it’s either a small lot or a square mile being offered, we have out of state people buying up the bigger plots but they are hunters more from the South that don’t want much change. The worse here is the commercial farming doing the slash and burn of habitat.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

The West part of Va. ain't nothing like the east 1/2 of the state, and not all of the east half. Most people in the
East part don't know we exist. They think Va. stops at in the middle. Only thing that's get attention this far west
is Bristol because on the NASCAR race. We kinda like it that way. 11 countys up east mostly, is the the only blue
county s in the state. And they turn the whole state blue.

I saw a study some time ago that selected the five most free states in the nation. The top five were

Wyoming
Oklahoma
New Hampshire (live free or die!)
Indiana
and I forget the fifth.

Speaking for Indiana, it's a pretty free state and you are pretty much left alone to do your thing without government intervention. Taxes are usually fairly low. However, there's not much in the central part of the state except corn and beans, beans and corn. No rivers, lakes, forest, etc. The farm fields are looking beautiful this time of year. But there's not much for natural beauty. There's some lakes in the north part of the state, and some hills and forest in the south. That's about it.

Bound by everlasting bands?

I was going to say MS, but this recent flag issue has me hesitant to. Up until right now, I loved everything about this state.

We are a red state, anti-abortion, great trapping laws, great gun laws, great people. Very religious state.... we just yesterday made it legal to drink alcohol in all counties, lol. Dumb laws like seatbelt laws are not enforced, and you can't be pulled over for just not having a seatbelt on. We have one of the best Castle Doctrines in the country. Very little bureaucratic bs like building permits or zoning laws, you can still put a mobile home on private land no matter how old it is. Cost of living is low, taxes are reasonable, once you turn 65 you pay no property taxes on the first 100k. Since I moved here I have had zero complaints about this state, which was a huge relief and blessing having spent my entire life in NY and IL, respectively, up until moving here.

But this week, our Republican leadership... (both the senate and house are red and this bill required a 2/3 majority to pass) voted to override the will of the people who had voted to keep our current state flag in 2001, and took down our flag without a vote of the people. The whole thing has me sick to my stomach, as it goes completely against everything I loved so much about this state.

Depends on your age. Retirement location is way different than where the high paying jobs are Plan for your retirement and when you get there, look around for what you are willing to pay for.

It definitely ain't Arkansas. I would not recommend anyone retiring here if you were raised north of the Mason-Dixon line or west of Texas.

SHHHUUSS!

Don’t be fibbing to these nice folks!

Wyoming is not free!!
The state parks cost $5 a car load!!
Not that I’d go to one, less of course it has a lake with two foot long trout an walleyes long as your arm.
And it is true that THE HOLE has a lot of artsy fartsy rich people. We kinda like to keep em rounded up so we can keep an eye on em.
Trapping? Nope none of that, no fisher, no otter, no possum and darn few marsh rats an coon.
And if ya want to use a little larger foothold like a 650 or a CDR on land well then you might catch a lion, then would just have to let it go. And check laws,? They’re horrible, foot holds? Why you gotta check them suckers onst every 72 hours or three days whichever comes first!! Even if it’s snowing!! Snares are a little better they gotta be anchored to something solid so no tying to a fence. Loops gotta be no more than a foot across an ya gotta have a 295 BAD Oh an ya gotta check them one day a week. So set on Monday check Sunday of next week. See told you they was a little better. Body grippers the same sep ya can’t set the ten inchers on land.
Can’t use no piece or parts of no game animal, game bird, or game fish for bait cause, you know.... they’re game.
An gun laws well let me tell you! We got a whole half page! Like you can’t just shoot someone. They have to be scary, you know like really bad scary. Course if they walk into your home with out a invite that’ll do it.
An the hunting is awful poor. Colorado has all the elk, Montana and Idaho has all the moose an sheep.
All we got is a few buffalo and speed goats.

So basically Wyoming SUX !
The wind blows non stop, some places nearly a hunnert miles an hour when it gets goin.
It snows knee deep to a yearling GEERAFF!!
It gets cold, I mean bad cold fifty below or more. Remember them hunnert mile an hour winds?

So tell everyone you know Wyoming SUX An it’s liable to get scary, ya know really bad scary specially with everyone owning a gun and what not an all that RONA VIRUS floating around!!!!

I'm going to cast a vote for Montana. I applied for a concealed carry permit. I filled out an application, the clerk walked it into a back office, came out a couple of minutes later and said, "Ok, I'm going to take your picture now." She took the picture and said, "It will come in about a week in the mail." I'll be darned if it didn't.

I moved here from Massachusetts about 30 years ago to escape political persecution. It's the best thing I ever did. We don't have but a couple of elected Democrats in our county. A lot of freedom here I did not have in Massachusetts. There is still a lot of unzoned property up here and no building permits required in my county.

No hunting in Montana though, no fishing either.

Pennsylvania has a similar system for carry. But much quicker, hand the deputy $20 and the application and he/she says smile for the camera. In and out in 3 or so minutes with card in hand. Still doesn’t beat the true constitutional carry states where anyone with a pulse can carry a firearm however the heck they feel like, just the way it should be.

Can’t remember if it was Lingle Wyoming I read in the farmers almanac anyway somewhere in that neck of the woods had the highest average daily wind speed 47mph. I guessing that was just in Wyoming.

Larry understands. I heard the deer made it all the way to Mexico and even Oklahoma lost everything.

Which isn’t a surprise since Oklahoma is so busy keeping Texas from floating into the Gulf of Mexico.

Maryland if you separated the Eastern Shore from the western shore.

And moving the District of Columbia further from our state border would also help!

Shh!!

Don’t tell anyone about the Eastern Shore. Everyone know we don’t have furbearer’s, geese, ducks, whitetail deer, sika deer or blue crabs. It is a terrible wasteland.

If I had enough of Mt I'd move to the Dakotas. Montana is getting too popular i might have to make the move sooner than later. Big cities are the problem with any state.

I’m in TN and overall I believe we are in a good place. Like stated above the large cities are what our problems are. If they could get rid of Memphis and Nashville. Things would be for the better.

On what Mark said, I’ve lived in Kentucky all my life. I’ve been to lots of other states and many seem like they’d be great in their own ways. I live in a private “holler. I have great neighbors I get along with......none. The thing I’m seeing, I don’t know if it’s old age, is I can’t hardly go to town without seeing sorry people that anger me. They are just so inconsiderate and entitlement minded. The govt. has created these folks, they haven’t moved in. If you aren’t going to move, decide to make the best of where your at. Spend time trapping and being with your wife, kids and grandkids.
Also,
Quit watching the news. Use these devices we’re on as a digital newspaper you can pick up and put down. I quit watching the news a couple weeks ago and it’s been great. The days are longer and my blood pressure is definitely lower.

I live in upstate NY (Adirondacks). It is night and day difference from the New York everyone thinks of. It’s a totally different world up here. But we have crappy laws thanks to the commies in NYC.

Does not take more than a million or so people scattered over 6-10 conservative low population states to change the political dynamics quickly and drastically. For me it is better to utilize and live in states with a center out either left or right approach as the regs, laws and culture change less dramatically and tolerance levels build over time and generations. Lots of places in many states where one can enjoy considerable personal as well as societal freedoms.
