Wished there was an option to pay a little more, and order our trapping magazines in a non see-thru, protective paper or plastic sleeve.... Very thin, soft covers on the Trappers World magazine, and Trappers Post is also vulnerable because of it's larger size and soft covers.
Some postal employees have been known to spot a trapping magazine and rough it up, or make it disappear altogether.
In the early 80's, I didn't get "The Trapper" magazine for months...Turns out one of the local post office women was a animal rights activist.

Got the same thing going on here too Michael...some of my mags are beat up. When I lived in an other town my trapping mags were completely destroyed. Finally called the postmaster and walked over the magazine and told him about my situation....never happened again. We shouldn’t have to do this but today, in this country, anything goes...grrrr. I used to subscribe to Hemmings motor news. For those that are not familiar with it , it is considered the 'bible' of car ads. Basically a very thick magazine with 1000's of classified ads for collector cars , parts and the like. Need parts for a old Hudson ? That's the place to look. Over time more and more subscribers were getting their magazines late. Hemmings looked into the problem. Found out a bunch of postal employees were reading these magazines during their breaks/lunchtime and the magazines showed up late by days even a week or two. Obviously getting your magazine in a timely manner was important so you could get parts or a vehicle before it was sold to someone else. Hemmings then started to mail the magazine in a clear plastic wrap to thwart this problem.

Hey Mike, Just received my July/August Trappers Post in the mail today...Folded corners and a tear on the front cover about 3/4 down, approx 2" inches long, so all in all pretty good considering it being unprotected. Bought a very nice first edition Walter Arnold fox trapping book from a fellow T - Man member recently that was superbly packaged, and still got crushed, tore and wrinkled up on a trip to he_ _ and back! Good ole' USPS...Can't live with them, or without them.

I had this young mail man a few years ago, that would take my magazines home with him and read them and them bring them to me. I found out by accident, when one day when he was coming by just as I was unloading a big beaver and several muskrats and he started asking questions about trapping. He slipped up when he said, he had seen some thing about something "IN YOUR MAGAZINE". Then he confessed, but he promised he only kept them for one night. I told him he could keep them 2 nights as long they were in good shape when I got. . It was really a funny incident though.
