with the UW-Madison restrictions on gatherings and UW-Madison is the governing body for 4-H in WI we would have had no extension staff present at the fair or able to work the fair with all of your 4-H volunteers and paid staff unavailable, what do you do? Judges didn't want to do face to face judging concerned with the crowds , when there isn't face to face judging much of the learning opportunity of fair is gone , there was discussion of a no entertainment , exhibitor only fair but even the close quarters of the animal barns becomes an issue.

in the end the fair was canceled previous live stock auction purchasers were contacted and contact info was exchanged with live stock youth producers so that those animals can find buyers as they all have a very precious commodity attached to them a butcher date at a local processor.
