Our lawn has a lot of clover growing in it, how can one get rid of it?
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

What is 2-4-D and where does one get it? How is it applied? I have a spreader, will that work?

Our lawn has a lot of clover growing in it, how can one get rid of it? 8 acres and 7 is solid clover, fertilize it in late sept and hunt out the door.

Goats love it. Get some goats. Build a good fence. Peeker will be by the house when you are ready to sell the goats. my favorite trap is a blake n LAMB.

I have about 2 acres I mow, I could care less about the clover, but my wife wants it gone.

if its fescue, there is a product called Gordon Q4 plus herbicide. its the best and quickest to get rid of clover and other broadleaf. Has to be under 80 deg. On clover you notice them wilting the next day.

I like the clover , I try and mow 1/2 every other week so that I have constant clover and keep the bees around so they can pollinate my garden also
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Our lawn has a lot of clover growing in it, how can one get rid of it? I have about 2 acres I mow, I could care less about the clover, but my wife wants it gone. Clover has taken over my lawn this year and I see a lot more in people's yards all across PA and NJ this year. Must be weather related? I also mow about two acres and don't care about the clover. My wife suggested I lower the blades a bit because the white flowers come right back in a day or two and she doesn't like them.. I did but it didn't help much. I'm not going any lower. I'll follow this thread but I'm probably not going to worry too much about the clover.
Eh...wot?

If you use 2-4D I would suggest adding some crop oil. Clover Is likes to shed chemicals.
Our lawn Is over run with clover but If It wasn't for the clover I wouldn't have a lawn So I don't care. The flowers will go away later In the season.

mostly white but the fallow areas and my hay field that isn't cut yet is probably at least 50 percent red.

Most of the products that kill clover are some formulation of 2,4-D. 2,4-D kills broad leaf weeds but not grasses if applied at the rate on the label. You can seed grass 2 weeks after spraying. Best time to seed with grass is in the fall. Spray 2 weeks before seeding time. And, grass is difficult to grow unless it has good soil contact and plenty of water.
I don't have irrigation so growing grass is going to depend on rain - which is a crap shoot. I'll keep my clover because it's just as green as grass and isn't a fragile.

Not sure, peeker. But it is easy for me to knock clover back with a John Deere belly mower. It seems once it gets dry, fescue maybe able to get the upper hand.

My lawn is a bit of a mix.
It has weeds, clover, green grass and now that it stinkin' hot it also has brown grass.
I'm not really into lawns if you couldn't tell. X2. Same here.

My wife hates Creeping Charley. Then we took a horticulture class together. Creeping Charley and clover are great for pollinators. Now she’s torn between feeding bees and seeing ground cover she doesn’t like. I think the bees will win this one
If your wife wants the clover gone, let HER do the research and do the work to get rid of it. She might decide to leave it alone
Never too old to learn

I appreciate all the comments. For now she has not mentioned anything for a few days so I am going to let it ride. Tell her that you treated it but it takes about 4 months for the stuff to work. Come November it will all be gone until next spring. Then next July you can tell her you will treat the yard again and in 4 months it will be gone again. I will send you my consulting bill in the mail!!!!
