Anyone else having issues with it? I usually grow maters in containers and have no problems. I fertilize and put the calcium to'em but this year I've got it. My Cherokee Purples are taking a beating.
I think it's this heat, hard to keep a good moisture rate, what do you all think?
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Yep, inconsistent moisture is your issue. I see it a lot where people water with a garden hose and think that did the trick.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Blossom end rot is caused by the tomato plant being unable to take up and use calcium well. There's a lot of possible causes including high or low soil ph, low calcium levels in the soil., to high of a nitrogen level in the soil, drought, inconsistent water or to much water. Being that your tomatoes are in pots and that we are extremely hot and dry here in Ohio right now, I agree with Carl that inconsistent water is the likely problem.
I have my tomato plants in pots and I am watering them as soon as the soil looks a little dry, every day or two. Put the water right at the base of the plant, so the leaves stay dry, to avoid leaf spot fungus. I keep 4, 2 1/2 gallon jugs of water on my well head for watering. I let the water warm up before using it.

Agree with all above and in my experience Cherokee Purple maters tend to get it easier.

In my experience, all of the black/purple varieties are prone to BER. I always added a Tsp of Epsom salts and garden lime to my mix when planting and it seemed to help a lot
Just happy to be here.

This is the first time I've had issues, I'm thinking of trying a Brandywine mater next year. Also, I think they got to much sun and it's been hot. I should have moved them.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I grow several tomatoes in buckets on the deck(along with my regular garden). When preparing the soil for the buckets,,I mix in a few TUMS (you know the heartburn pills) right into the soil.As they dissolve,,they give the plant all the calcium it needs.I also treat all my tomatoes with Bonide Copper Fungiside..This prevents blight and helps prevent blossom end rot.

I tried the Bonide copper fungicide this year. I've always had problems fighting blight. The stuff seams to work. My tomatoes look great.
