not interested in a new or used car but passing a dealership in town yesterday it looked half empty and caught my eye. There a shortage of cars and trucks now? Lol. This dealership has been here for years and can’t imagine they’re are closing the doors but not sure.

Maybe they're with all of the change!

I work at a dealer, we are seeing an unprecedented demand, coupled with a huge shortage of inventory available. Prices at the auction are sky high, and we are paying people over book value for their trade ins. It's a pretty wild time, however, for the consumers, its a great time to trade.

Reasons are many. Not working. Not enough money to put down payment. Vehicles are too expensive. ETC,!

So keep that older vehicle. Not driving as much as before. Less wear on the old truck etc..

My thoughts also but I’d think if that’s the case you’d see the opposite and the lots would be full.

I went to a local car auction last week to look for a vehicle with a dealer. They had less than 50% vehicles up for auction than the last time I went several years ago.

OK so its lack of supply, not a huge demand. People arent trading up. I remember in the end of 07 there were five 4 wheel drive f150’s brand new for 17 grand apiece at a local ford dealership. You might find an 8 year old truck with 100k miles for that now. But they act like youre getting a steal with their zero percent interest for 6 years on a 43k pickup.

Although I can't blame you for feeling the way you do, I can assure you that I have nothing to gain by anonymously advising people on the current conditions of the automotive market. hahaha!

It is fueled by huge demand, without a question. My dealer group, and others in our network are all seeing incredible demand. The economy in our rural areas here is great.
