bblwi trapper B Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 11,390 East-Central Wisconsin	Used to cut the cord but not have to cut the scrotum. I bet it still hurts. We used it on the beef we had years ago as you did not run the risk of infection etc. Later we just did it earlier with the rubber bands. Bryce

He uses the rubber bands mostly on pigs and sheep. Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.

Racer55 trapper R Joined: Jan 2020 Posts: 22 ON	The Caltrate bander is way better tool to use than those pinchers/emasculators on mature bulls,the pinched skin and bruising sets the animal back about 3 weeks on average and is painfull.The bander doesn't cause the same noticeable discomfort by any means,I expect the appendige just falls to sleep from no circulation and then dries up and falls off-not interested in finding out for myself though. Elastics used for sheep work good on calves depending on the operator-easy to have a testicle get retracted and be missed. Best is a scalpel and get them out on the ground unless its fly season,even then a shot of Ivomec can keep maggots away till healing begins I am told.
