What is paperwork on long gun, if u were convicted of aggravated misdeamor years ago, that could got u 2 years. But u never got that sentence. No jail time just fine, u can still buy firearm ? I understood if u are wait court or indictment. Or felon, u csnt, which I not, but if convicted of aggravated misdmeanor , it been years since fill out this paper.

If I am not mistaken if you are a convicted "felon" you cannot purchase long guns. Not sure how the law works on anything else. Might be different in the state that you live also compared to others.??????

You can be banned for misdemeanors. It depends on what exactly the charge was. For instance, domestic violence. We would need more information.

they can apparently block you for anything , then you get to appeal if it isn't something they should block you for.


go fill out the paperwork , you get your answer. if you are planning to buy the gun the only cost is your time to fill out the form, if you get a deny the store hands you back your money

I have bought a gun and I have been convicted of a few misdemeanors. I guess it may depend on the type of misdemeanor. I have been charged with felonys but never convicted.

If it was me, I would ask a couple of local gun shops. Even just by calling on the phone.

I'm not sure about Iowa, but certain states if you are prohibited from buying a gun and they call the NICS, you'll know in a hurry when the cops show up. It won't be the gun shop calling. It will be an automatic call from the NICS system itself. Most times the call will have been made before the gun shop even gets the denial.
