Apparently several firemen went after alligators and with one of them having a permit. When the alligator got up near the boat he lunged at one of them and bit his arm off. Essentially the other hunters helping him pry the mouth of the gator off of the man’s mangled arm.
One of the things it’s not noted is that the law in Florida requires you use the bang stick. I would argue the point with a firearm would be better in most cases.
I went out one night years ago with the alligator state trapper. We got one 12‘6“ long and he used to bang stick. Fiire arm would be much safer for the hunter.

Kirk, what county/town in Florida did you go with the Alligator trapper?

I have a friend that’s a biologist in Florida they did alligator surveys. He said Lake Jessup had more alligators in than any of the lakes that they tested for survey.
