I have been going through some 110 / 120 body grips and adding different belly wires. I had been using floral wire but I found it to not be very durable. I have transitioned over to 18 gauge Cooper wire (14lb). I cut a length about 10" long and wrap it around one wire, make a loop, and wrap the other end around the other trigger.

A little dab of Gorilla Glue on both wraps and done.

I have tested these out on some 120 size animals and been very pleased.

Interesting. I've heard of guys using braided fishing line as well. Like spiderwire type stuff. Its very durable too.

What configuration do you shape your trigger wires before adding it?

Buy some of those small crimp on wire connectors. They work perfect for attaching those wires to the trigger
wires.
Back In the day you could buy those small wire coils that were made for that set up..

Inverted V (the way they come from the factory)

Beav, I tried those several years ago and wasn't pleased with them.

One other thing you could try Is take a hammer and flatten out the end of the trigger wires then drill a hole through the flatten out part.

This is what I do. Hole is 1/16”. Get quite a few mink in 220’s set for otter this way too.

Some good ideas. I had not thought of gorilla glue.

I use 14 lb Fireline these days but only on 10% of my traps. And mostly for in the water.

Belly wires for BG trap triggers are great for water swim through and land trail blind sets IMHO. For other conditions pan triggers are more appropriate as there are no wires in the trap opening to possibly deter the animals entry. Just my opinion.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.
