I took off the first day of September to go squirrel hunting. I got this one yesterday. I kept the hind legs and back strap but haven't eaten them yet.

It's also like 14" from nose to feet. Pretty big.

Do you know what is going on here? No fur on left and right shoulders. Is that a disease or what? Thank you Much for your help.

Looks like one I whacked in my front yard last year. I was told it was mange.

Wolves is what I grew calling the bot fly larvae that grew there. It's healing.

Are they still eatable when they have they larva in them or after its hatched. Do you not eat them?

Yes, perfectly safe to eat. The larvae is in the skin only not the meat nor do they cause infection or toxins in the meat.
However, I have killed squirrels with pus pockets that I assume came from wounds where a larvae had died or a wound had failed to heal properly.
