Anyone interested in how to properly process a beaver for food, it would do you well to read Bob's article in the back of the magazine. He know's what he's doing. If things get crazy and food really gets in short supply, you can use beaver as Bob does. I haven’t made it that far today but should get there today, I’d like to give one a try someday

Beaver was a big part of the First Nation peoples diet when I was growing up.

Got mine yesterday. Good article on a Henry Garden 22 using bird shot to kill nuisance animals at close range.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

Still waiting. Anyone else. I keep running to the mailbox everyday like Ralphy from a Christian Story waiting for his decoder ring. Lol.

Got mine yesterday. Noonan's article on Beaver is really good.
Moosetrot Why butcher a beaver. Skin It remove the four legs and If you want to deal with the back straps take them. No need to gut It.

The most important part of the article in my opinion is to not get any castor or sac oil contamination on the meat. Other than that, I don't think it matters a lot about how you do it. His method seems to be fool proof.

Is this the magazine someone posted a while back? I remember ordering some magazine, but have yet to receive any type of trapping mag yet. Could be one of many, but you're kinda vague on which magazine.

Once the USPS gets a hold of them, the sky's the limit. Mine hasn't hit my mailbox either, though I did get to read it about 15 times before it was printed. Be patient and rest assure it's on the way and we're not holding back on anyone. USPS regional facilities really drag their feet in some areas.

If you ordered something from Trapper's Post that you never received, please give us a call. Someone is in the office M-F (except Labor Day) 8 am - 4 pm CST. You'll actually talk to a real and friendly person, my wife Penny or circulation director Chris. If by chance you get a recording we're busy on the phone and not screening calls or ignoring anyone, so please leave a message and we'll get back to you asap. Our office number is 715-445-2540.
