23 inches from tip of nose to the butt. Pretty dang small but a pretty cherri red smile

Was going to run today but it is raining and almost wiped out at the end of the driveway so decided to stay home and get fur ready for Fur Rondy next weekend.

Be safe out there guys!

Well after a week of warm weather +40s and rain I think this Chinook is finally blowing out. Running today I have snares that are 2 foot off the ground and every hay set and snowhole the trap was a good 4 inches above the surface.

I hate running when the snow is crap! The hump in the trail slides you into the soft stuff and you submarine smile Take a step off the trail and it is waist deep! Hoping it freezes back up with the cold that is coming in this weekend.

Mr Wolf decided to make an appearance and of course the one spot I didn't set this year is where he passed through. I cant help but wonder if he was running that moose from last week.

Looking forward to working the fur auction at Fur Rondy this weekend and hope to see some of you out there!

Be safe out there!

Well the first weekend of the fur auction at Fur Rondy was a big success IMO! Saturday was slow due to weather, it snowed all day and the crowd just wasn't there, Sunday was another story! Clear skies warm temps created a big crowd!
That little fox ended up bringing in $120 smile I think the trappers that turned in fur for this auction are going to be pretty pleased with the end results smile
Next Sat is the last day for trappers fur and the Sun is the Hide and Horn auction. If you got time come on down and support the auction!

I saw you working diligently, at the back tables, in the live feed. I want to personally thank YOU, and ALL the other volunteers for EVERYTHING you all do on behalf of us ATA members. Without all the volunteer hard work you all put in, the Fur Rondy wouldn't be the success story it is!! Unfortunately, some of us bush dwellers live too far away and remote to attend and help out. So a big THANKS to you all for your efforts on all of our behalfs!!

trapped4ever I appreciate the kind words and will share them with the others smile It is a pretty solid core group of volunteers that bring all the pieces together and I am happy to help smile We even had Randy down here working all day Saturday shuffling furs smile The best is having those youngsters up there show casing fur for the crowd. The excitement and smiles on their faces are priceless smile

martentrapper From what I see on the items listed for that auction, no. There might be some sheep horns added but other then that all moose antler, The list for FBX might have some,

It was a pretty day out on the line! The snow settled and got hard once again and the temps were in the teens.

[Linked Image]

It always amazes me how you can go weeks without seeing anything and the BAM there they are smile

[Linked Image]

Picked up a nice cherri red smile Starting to get rub and wasn't targeting them. Focusing on yotes.

[Linked Image]

Mr Otter finally made a appearance, First track I seen all season going cross country.

[Linked Image]

And then there was this, obviously the trap froze down from the thaw last week. First time I have had a Montana Special fires with nothing in it.

[Linked Image]

Be safe out there guys!

John they sure stomped all over that Montana Special trying to get caught. Thats how my sets used to look minus the sprung trap when I trapped out of Palmer.

Rob all we can do is try smile I keep flip flopping between snowholes and haysets. Last week when you stepped off the sled you went waist deep, yesterday you could walk on it. looks like we got cold weather in the forecast for 2 weeks so I will keep chasing yotes and hope the wolf comes back through.

Worked the SCCATA fur auction on Saturday and the Hide and Horn auction today.

I think there will be a few happy trappers with everything that was sold smile

There were only 3 wolves left 1 tanned 2 raw. We moved some wolverine but the crowd was more focused on tanned vs raw.

We started out with A LOT of lynx and we got about half sold. Same with beaver. Everything we had pretty good clearances.

I am targeting ermine next year for this auction! smile And if you were there or got to watch any of the live stream you know why smile

The Hide and Horn auction we sold everything and put some monies in the coffers for the organization smile The highest for a grizzly was 1400. That was alot of work!

We appreciate everyone that put in fur, attended, supported and volunteered this event. We have a phenomenal team that I am happy to be part of smile

Headed out in the am to be away from people for a bit smile

Be safe out there guys!

Well it is the end of the season for me. Went out Monday and topped off bait stations with the last of what I had here at the house and closed alot of my snare lines.
Today it is bright and sunny and +36,

In this picture you can see how high the snare is from the snow melting and yes those are yote tracks right under it smile

[Linked Image]

Rolled up on this pee post, looks like a mating pair of fox had teamed up, seed for next year.

[Linked Image]

This is a snow hole, see that nice flat spot to the right of the little spruce were it didn't step? That is where the traps is smile Go figure, glad I didnt get it though, more seed for next year.

[Linked Image]

Rolled into my favorite swamp area and sure enough fresh kitty track smile

[Linked Image]

Got everything pulled and shut down smile Time to start cleaning gear and getting ready for next season. Spring beaver and bear next on the hit list smile
Be safe out there guys!
