Funny almost every slough or small marsh I trap has none. One has a small one and one that is new for me this year and is small, maybe 1.5 acres has quite a bit of activity. We have been dry here for a month, I wonder if dropping water may trigger some activity?

I have never trapped muskrats where they build houses.
This may sound like a dumb question, but from the sounds of it they only live in huts in the winter, then where do the live the rest of the year?

I think they just use natural cover in the cattails and reeds. Just like a rabbit would. The rats around here don't get in a hurry so they start building a couple weeks before hard freeze-up.

I know I'm paranoid......but am I paranoid ENOUGH???
