Anyone ever tried using a modern 1-4 or 1-6 power scope on a PU Scope mount? Seem like a good option if you wanted more magnification but wanted to keep the look and feel of an original PU scope system.

Edit: yes that rifle in the picture is a sad but the mount is a pu for a mosin

That looks more like an SKS rifle!

To answer your question, I've thought about putting a scout scope on mine but Im good enough with open sights. Also I would have to get a new bolt unless I wanted a crazy far eye relief.

the Finns really knew how to rework a Mosin

re-crown

improved trigger

new front sight

modified rear sight with square sight notch a 200 yard shelf

cut clearance in the stock to free float the barrel

you can get some of the M27/M28 sight component here https://www.libertytreecollectors.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=10953&idcategory=17

the M39 sight was better yet but I don't know where you can find those parts the M39 had a screw adjustable front sight for windage

I wish I would've picked up a Finish Mosin 20 years ago. A guy was literally going to give it to me for nothing. Didn't know there was that much of a difference at the time.

I'm happy with my junk gun though. I can kill easily with open sights out to around 100. This year soft nose ammo has been hard to come by though.
