Wife's 2010 Buick Enclave not idling correctly. At cold start it fires up settles into idle just above 1k rpm a minute or so later as if a switch or solenoid flipped it shuts off. Will restart usually needing a pat on the accelerator, same idle and shut down. If given gas will run, if driven will run as long as gas given shuts down when coming to a stop/return to idle. Occasionally attempts to shut down while under power when being given gas.

Throwing codes
P0017 camshaft position ban 1 sensor b
P0496 evap
P0008 engine position bank 1
P0016 camshaft position bank 1 sensor a
P0017 camshaft position bank 1 sensor b

Recommend replace Oil Control Valve (vvt)

So replaced all four OCV, all four camshaft position sensors and the evap purge valve.

Still same symptoms.

If an old small block I'd be looking for vacuum leaks. This seems to me to be a bad solenoid shutting down either spark or gas.

What say the gearheads on here?

Is it really the CRANK sensors or the CAM sensors? Replaced a LOT of timing chains in those engines when they were new for those codes. Sludged up oil causes all kinds of issues in those engines.

I'm beginning to think timing chains as there's not much else left to replace. LOL

That makes more sense. Chains suck in those. Big time. If memory serves me right, that motor has to come out if its transverse mounted.

If you do or have the chains replaced, put in new tensioners. Warranty refused to cover tensioners until the failed on restart after the chains were replaced. Nothing like doing a job twice.
