My Stihl backpack blower was running at about 1/2 power, did the normal pm- plug, fuel filter, air filter…same issue. I took out the spark arrestor and it was pretty carboned up, burnt the carbon off with a torch, reassembled and it runs like new.
Question: Besides adding to the worlds carbon footprint, can I just remove the spark arrestor or will I create some adverse second effect?

Remove it and you get a good flame thrower, and in dry conditions you don't want the insurance liability if anything does happen.

X2. Spark arrestors are important.
