I see gun season is open in east Texas. Next weekend here. As for antler restrictions, just shoot the ones that have just lost their spots and don't worry about it. Lol.

Hard to measure them from up in the tree. Best to get down and put a tape measure across them.

Just tell them your kid shot it... His record will be expunged at 18
Just got to have four on one side here in Missouri. That's still poses a few problems for those who are arithmeticaly challenged in the northern part of the state...

If you want big bucks, shut down the buck season and shoot does only. JMO

It sure was more fun hunting 25+ years ago here in Pa. Everyone just wanted a buck, spikes were fine. What we called monsters, 8 point with 16-18 inch spread and 5 or 6 inch high points are now scrawny now adays. Used to be everyone went out at day break and everyone got shots, there were drives all over theplace and deer got bumped several times a day until they found their happy spot. 10 am or 10:30 everyone went back to the cabin for breakfast and after that the serious guys went back out an Mom and the sister went home. Now you dont dare move off your 20 acre spot or you will chase all your deer away for the rest of the day.......jk

I’m right there with you in that!!!! Us East Tx folk ain’t got them wide open spaces like out west so we can take all day checking out how wide something is. Exactly. In several Missouri counties they have to have 4 points on one side. Get a big 6 come through, staring at the rack to see if he has a brow tine.... Poof he's gone

We have the same thing just different spreads for different zones. The only nice thing is we also have a beam length so we only have to meet one of the requirements. That deer would be legal here because of his right side. We can also take 1 of our 3 bucks as long as it has visible horns above the hairline. I generally don't do it that way but it is legal.
