A few weeks ago I took my son Justice on a small game/ bird hunt on some local state land, I kicked up a hen ringneck and took the shot, and missed, shot again and watched the bird fly about 75 yards, we looked for it for about an hour and found nothing, yesterday we went back to the same field, walked out about 50 yards when i heard a bird take flight, i spun around just in time to see him pull up on the bird and drop the hammer on a beautiful male ringneck pheasant, I've always been proud of my kids, but yesterday went above and beyond, he had so much fun that we're going again today, i hope his luck holds, I'd love to see that smile on his face again

Nothing better than your first... except your kids first! Awesome swampgator thanks for the story.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Good for you guys. Believe me it never gets old. I watched one of my oldest boys hit a bird last weekend and I was smiling from ear to ear.

Sweet and on the wing non the less.. all my kids first were more stationary squirrels with a .22 followed by deer . I see a lot more great memories in your near future. Tell him congrats from Indiana.

Awesome story. Watched a 14 year old get his first flying pheasant 2 weeks ago. He was grinning and his dad was proud. Great to hear young people getting out and hunting.

Congratulations. My daughter is only seven but I can't wait for those days. I'm even more jealous that you guys can still find pheasants without going to a ranch.

The first thing I ever shot was a male pheasant. That was 56 years ago and I remember it like yesterday. Your son made a life long memory. Congratulations.
