I'm looking to try and find 500 rounds or more of 223 Rem. or 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition. Does anybody know where I can find some?

Haven't been able to find any anywhere. Found 2 boxes of 7.62 last week and bought them both.

Good luck. I've been checking all the online outlets I get reloading components from and they are selling out faster than they can get stuff in. During the last run on ammo when obummer got in it took about a year before we saw any real shortages, but this time its happening overnight almost.

Academy sports had 20,000 rounds of .556 in 200 round boxes come in a few weeks ago. I got my 3 boxes at 0900 when they opened and by 1300 when my wife stopped to get 3 boxes they was down to the last 5 boxes. This all sold that fast with a 3 box limit per customer. Ammo is hitting the shelves, just leaving very quickly. I have been told that the same academy is getting ammo 3 days a week, but in smaller shipments that only lasts an hour or so after the store opens. Another store-front near me has been getting 20 round boxes of 5 .56 fairly regular, and it is selling just as fast, even with a much higher price than bulk. Good luck finding some, but don't be surprised if it cost you twice or more of what it would have a few months ago.

Go to a gun show and be prepared to spend. They will have 500 rounds and more for sale.

Rogers sporting goods sent me an email this morning. They had some, but it was 70 cents a round, if I recall

I paid a dollar a round for bulk .223 hp a few months ago. Bought quite a few rounds of Rem and Federal 30-06 a few months back for just over a dollar a round average. Found a large supply of premium shotgun rounds in a gunsmith operation when I was out of town a few weeks ago. Not much good available at the big box stores right now. Just keep looking and check with some gunsmiths, most have good older ammo at discount prices.
