Mine are not ancient, sorry. These are from late 80s through 90s.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Looks like a pile of frost scrapped Beaver. One of the native guys could be Angus, a native Robbie trapped with quite a bit in the early days.

The wife said the man in the pic with the Cessna looks older than Robbie would have been back then, sure looks like him though. Any info on the pic Boco? Could be Herbie or Archie Web but doesn't look like Archie to me. Could be a piolet that worked for Archie or Robbie that I don't know. Archie was the founder of Wilderness Air and was the oldest Canadian to obtain a commercial piolets license at 70 something. Archie sold Wilderness Air to Robbie in the late 60s early 70s maybe? Robbie had it well into the 80's.

Robbie sold the old CF-MEN two years ago but as of last fall it was still in his yard. The guy hasn't came to pick it up yet.

Only found one so far of me a "couple" years ago with my first red fox I trapped. I will keep searching for more pics but that was the fox that started the k9 trapping addiction for me that still burns strong today.

You could be correct,I believe the Native guy is Eddie Trapper from Moose factory. The MNR sent him in to Michipicoten Island one winter for a couple weeks to clean out an overpopulation of beaver.Did your friend ever fly for MNR?
Cool that you know the plane and the pilot.
Besides the typically Northern Cree handled beaver, they look to have a couple boxes of castoreum.
I believe the pic is from the early 60's.
I got the pic from Ralph Bice's book. "Fur - The trade that put Ontario on the Map" the history of trapping in Ontario and the OTA.

He flew a lot for the MNR.

I know Angus was Ojibway.

If that plane could talk! It hauled Prospectors, Game Wardens, Trappers, Dog teams, Surveyors, Prisoners etc.

A trapper feed his dogs heavy before flying out to his line once. The whole team started loosing their lunch at the same time in the old "MEN".

Also hauled a few dead folks and one native lady whos water broke in flight and had her baby with in minutes of landing.

I am in the middle, cousins on either side of me did not trap much but wanted in the picture. I was 6 at the time, did all my own skinning, fleshing and put up. Rifle is an aluminum barreled Remington 22 pump.

Boco, I really appreciate those beaver pictures. There's a lot of work in those bundles. Some amazing fur comes out of the bush. A few guys still doing it around here, but sadly, they're dying off and not quite being replaced. Thank you all for your old photos.

Here is a pic of Jim Sawyer, from the early 1900's.He is old in the picture.
He trapped the area of Ontario that is now Algonquin park before it was a park and after.
I know one of his great nephews(hes in his mid 70's) who still traps in that area.(Minden).
Note the strips of sapling bark used to tie the beaver hide to the hoop.

It’s my twin brother and I. We are 15 and this is probably the best fox I ever caught.
