I have been tossing around the idea of making some homemade disposables and have seen a few plans for using conduit. The issue i can see is conduit being flimsy enough where cable could tear it on a big enough dog.

I don't think they would hold up to being driven into hard ground. Used them quite a bit in water. If you can get them in hard ground, they are not going to tear out.

Im looking for a disposable option. We get more than a few inches of frost up here so getting anything out you have to wait til spring and i dont like that approach because ill more than likely forget.

I make my own, I’ll post pics tomorrow. The biggest problem is making a driver, but if you have a welder that wouldn’t be as much of a problem.

I've made them lots of times. Even if you are not planning to reuse them you'll never get them to drive through frozen ground unless you weld a solid tip into them, then you have more into them than if you'd just buy wolf fangs or similar.

If you want to build your own just buy some schedule 40 1/2" black pipe. Cut them at a 45 degree angle then smash that end flat with a hammer.

Drill a hole through the pipe about 2" up from the flattened end. Crush a aluminum stop on your cable and feed It through the hole leaving the nut inside. Now you can finish your cable end with a loop.
Making a driver. Buy a 1/2" bolt then weld a extension on to the head of the bolt. The bolt has to be short enough so It doesn't make contact with the nut on your cable.

I use pipe as well, but I have a pointed driver, and weld a loop in the outside of the anchor. Many ways, to each his own, afa original question, I, personally, wouldn't use conduit.

I used cheap pipe from surplus store, smashed end and welded. Welded a chain to it instead of cable. Use a piece of rebar with end ground down and a T welded on it for a driver.

I make mine out of electrical conduit. I cut a 45 degree on each end. They are 4 inches long to long. Drill a hole in the middle, feed cable with stop on inside, and make loop on other end. Never had a problem with them holding coyotes. My driver is 1/2 cold roll rod with a 3/4 inch steel nipple cut on a 45 degree and welded on end. Leave 1 1/2 inch of rod stuck through the nipple.

If you want the extra strength , use Allumnimum IMC. Thicker than EMT, thinner the rigid pipe. A little zap from an allum wire-feed on the tip should do the job.
P.S. Lose the cable and use chain. ATV's & PU trucks make good pullers.

Been using conduit for a lot of years. Cut them 45 on both end and weld a 1\4 nut on them. Work fine for small critters and water trapping. Will work on Coyote but I use pipe on most land sets. When using conduit anchors on land or hard ground I hammer the driver in to pretap the hole. With out doing this the anchors tend to stick in the driver as it will flare the conduit if hammered to hard.
Conduit works but since I switched from cable to chain I only use pipe now.

I do the same. I like chain better than cable because it never failed I would always end up with a loop sticking up in my trap bed. Also chain allows me to pull and reuse the same anchor.
