For my birthday this past weekend, my wife took me on a Northern IL goose hunt. We dont get Canada Geese in So IL any more, and I really wanted to shoot some black feet! I roll my own ammo, and I'm glad I did. The geese didn't stand a chance with 1 3/16oz of nickle plated Ts. My preferred load for long range geese. I'm glad I brought them along, and the birds kept wanting to hang up at 50-70 yds. The #2s and the BBs just weren't cutting it.

I mark my reloads with the same system as my twin and the old man that taught us how to reload. Never know when you might need a shell.

About the only decent thing out of the waterfowl I see in those pics is that lone drake mallard, lol.
Congrats on a great hunt. I might feel different about Canada’s if we didn’t have a HUGE resident population.

we were done well before 9:00. there was geese in the air the entire time we were picking up decoys. I'm pretty sure there's geese in the background somewhere. they have the birds up there like we used to have down here 20 years ago. it brought back a lot of good memories.

Which RSI load are you running?

RSI 131 I modified a bit. dropped the powder down to 37g of STEEL, and just shy of 520g of nickle plated T's (63 pellets).

Looks like you had a great hunt. A friend introduce me to goose hunting last year shot my first one last September and was able to take a couple of more by myself hunting a cut silage field. I'm rolling my own also but mine are 12ga 2 3/4 shells #1 steel. I have two loads that pattern very well at 40 yards. One is running right around 1505 fps and the other is 1630 fps

You gottm ! Tell us about your shrapnel shooter ,its choke etc. Do you pick and roast some of the smaller ones ? That makes for some good sandwich meat leftovers.

not like they use too. I remember the days of 2 million geese south of I-64. now we are lucky to see 10,000 a season.

that's my precious. it's a win 120, with a Carlson long range choke. I didn't pluck any of them, just breasted them out we were staying at an Airbnb, so I didn't want to make a mess. I would have liked to have rendered the fat off of them too.
