I have trapped and put up in Western Pennsylvania Coyotes, Red Fox, Grey Fox, Mink and Muskrat this year

All had ticks on them except the six (6)Muskrats.

Have any of you noticed any ticks on your muskrats?

Caught rats with big botfly maggots living in them though.

cat daddy there are several in Washington state on muskrats...look harder.

I get them on mink just behind the neck, never on rats. But iv never put up huge numbers like some guys on here.

I guess if there was a drought and some rats were denning up in the woods somewhere you'd find some ticks perhaps.

Otter=no ticks

I have found leeches on ‘rats a few times.

I have a strong stomach but the festering botfly wound with squirming botfly on the rat I caught this year was foul.

Does anyone know why muskrats don't get ticks?

I had an otter pelt once that were riddled in tick bites when I skinned him, I doubted myself and asked Groenwold when I sold it, I said "Ticks" , he said "yup"

Beaver, otter and mink all have had ticks. Don't ever remember one on a rat. Have had Beaver that had been under the ice for over a month completely loaded with them.

If you look close J staton you have two ticks the small one besides is a male and the engorged is the female

Had a mink loaded with ticks this year. Out of 15 rats I trapped for bobcat bait no ticks. Never saw a tick on a muskrat.
