Brother got a badger and I can’t find a lot of info on putting them up? Case skin? Flesh and board like a coon but flip fur our like a coyote? Any advice or links appreciated.

Careful not to over flesh them or the hair may start to slip otherwise much like fleshing a coon.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Leaving the feet on will get you extra money on a badger but only if you skin the feet out all the way, especially on the front feet. All those toe bones need to be removed, right down to the knuckle of the claw. Once the bones have been removed, then you need to make sure the foot dries thoroughly so it does spoil. Prop the foot pocket open with something. Put salt or borax or paper towels in it, anything to dry it up.

I’ve seen some very nice badger put up with the feet on but the foot was cut off at the ankle joint. All the bones and tendons were still on the pelt. Strange looking pelt came back from the tannery. The leg was fine. The claws were fine. The foot was there but all the fur had slipped off the foot. Looked really weird.

One other piece of advise - badgers, like all fur bearers, have four (4) feet. Don’t forget to leave the back feet on and prep them. Even though are small and have tiny claws, a badger pelt looks not quite right with only the front feet. Yup, I’ve bought any number of badger that way.
