I’ve read to use a mild soap when cleaning grinders, jars etc so you don’t cross contaminate materials. What do you guys use? Dawn has a pretty strong smell to me. Maybe it dissipates after it dries?

I just boil stuff in water. Kills bacteria and gets lost the nasty off. But I don’t care if that stuff is perfectly clean. I always figured a little cross contamination from a previous grind was better than soap.

This is from the bar and restaurant industry. Wash-rinse-sanitize and air dry! This means Wash with soap and water. Scrub if necessary. Rinse in clean water followed by a 50 parts per million concentration of chlorine; 12.5 parts per million of Iodine; or 200 parts per million of quaternary ammonia. A teaspoon of household bleach in a gallon of water can be used as the chlorine sanitizer. Let everything air dry. Don’t rinse off the sanitizer.

You can also let the parts soak in 170 degree water for a minute or two.

I have a little fire hose type tip on my garden hose that blasts a good stream of water it gets off the bigger chunks. Jars worth saving go in the dishwasher if it’s nothing nasty.

Bread and glycerin cleans my grinder good enough.

NASTY goes in the dishwasher out in the shed.
Find a shed DW free or very low cost on CL when someone has remodeled their kitchen and want the old one gone.

I grind a couple bags of ice through grinder before power washing with hot water. Amazing what grinding a couple bags of ice will remove

That is a great idea. I just take apart and hose off.
