Hi. I’m looking at buying some mb750s for wolves. I see most people use drag hooks, and mb has a pre rigged set up they recommend. However the area I intend on trapping in is mostly open with almost nothing to catch on.

Will the regular earth anchor cables work for holding a wolf? Would I still need a length of chain it they do? I’m guessing no, keep it really short?

When I had my One Wolf Tag here I had my MB750 Wolters set up with 2 "Wolf fang" cable stakes 20 inches.

I tried yanking just one, out with my 4 wheeler and just about flipped it. If I ever get to use my Wolf traps again for Wolves I would trust The Wolf fang anchors only.

We've held a couple of 70-80#'s with regular earth anchors in frozen ground just fine. We make our's 20" long for the wolf traps. Chains are 8-10' long(for drags) but we added a swivel at the 3' mark in the chain and use quick links to attach swivel to chain. This has worked fine for us.

Thanks guys. Glad to hear because it’ll also save me some serious coin not needing a drag hook set up

One superfin or any earth anchor you trust with chain or heavy cable and make sure you have plenty of swivels obviously. Unless your trapping in soft ground and get a bunch of rain it'll be fine. I think you could use a lot of earth anchors to pull out your pickup if you needed to.

What’s the purpose of having a length of chain when you’re using an earth anchor? Wouldn’t that just make a bigger burn mark and screw up the set location?
