Was wondering how people ship their frozen critters when they sell them to taxidermists if they sell online? I was thinking of getting some foam to insulate a box during shipping maybe sticking a freezer pack in it with the longer ship times currently going on. Anyone who's sold to taxidermists have any tips on shipping?

Frozen boxes like you described, with the styrofoam liner. The ones I have shipped went FedEx next day. Buyer pays it all, of course.

I pack the frozen hides or animals in a cardboard box that is lined with Styrofoam and then pack it tight as I can with newspapers. The whole frozen animals will stay frozen if they are insulated heavily and no air can get to them.

Whatever you do don't send them by US mail, even next day express. Nothing is truly guaranteed to arrive when they say it is.

I have a client who ships many tons of frozen meat. He uses cardboard boxes, with 6 styrofoam panels lining the inside. He puts the meat in the center in what looks like a mylar space blanket bag, with a few cakes of dry ice in with it. The meat stays frozen for at least 4 days, even in hot weather. He uses FedEx as the carrier.

Only ship on Monday. That gives the package 5 days to get to its destination.

If you ship on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, it is almost guaranteed the package will sit some place over the weekend.

Styrafoam lined boxes are a great idea.
