So now that it's January who's running a rabbit line for the pot?

It's fun to do and gives a purpose to being out.

I don't trap any, but I will turn to rabbit hunting soon. Water is froze up so not trapping much, pheasant season closes on the 10th, so its time to hunt rabbits.

I think i enjoy taking the two beagles out for rabbits more than any deer hunting i do. One is about 11 and at the end of her run, but am lucky enough to have 2 younger ones coming in right behind her.
A really good beagle is a hunting partner someone who has never had one will never really understand. The only issue i have had is about the time they perfect there game there old and about done. Might be a life lesson that translates to our own life.

Hare snaring in the winter is a big deal in Newfoundland. You’ll see a lot of flagging ribbons along the dirt roads making trails with snares.

That's what's for breakfast in the morning. I got a big doe and a cottontail with the muzzle loader this eavening . I think fried deer heart , rabbit , buiscuits and gravy will make a great breakfast .

Can't use a snare (unfortunately) but a 110 works well. If you've read different can you post?

I havent heard or seen a beagle in the woods in a few years around here. But that is how I started out, walking with my Dad down a farm lane looking for eyes in the snow.....long time ago.......jk

are we talking as a land owner?

I can find no trapping season info on them listed in the trapping regs other than under land owner provision

4. Landowner Provisions: the owner or occupant of any land and any family members*who live with them do not need a license to:
• trap coyote, beaver, fox, muskrat, raccoon, woodchuck, rabbit and squirrel on the land year-round (see “beaver damage control” on page 20 for more information); or
7Licenses & Permits
• live trap with cage or box traps for beaver, coyote, fox, woodchuck, rabbit, raccoon and squirrel on their land at any time in cities, villages or other areas where the discharge of firearms is unlawful. Live-trapped animals must be either humanely killed or released on unenclosed private land with the landowner’s permission within 24 hours.
