The Jake is hard to beat. IMHO

I’d agree. The holding face of the Jake is just plain good. The cast 650 won’t leave you wondering what snapped it either.
This may seem goofy but it just seems the Jake closes faster. Could be my imagination or something visual. As said speed difference or not what gets nailed by the Jake would be equally caught by the 650.
I do not know on the price difference, but I’d “settle” for the 650 c any day if it came down to that.

Another thought to consider. I am not nor ever have been a long liner. If I were to be running hard and planting/resetting lot of traps each day I would consider a smaller trap. Digging that large a bed over and over for either the 650 or Jake particularly in frozen ground and also burying the shock springs on the Jake would burn too much effort and time.
The physical size room needed in the vehicle, the extra bedding dry fill or moss needed, pre trapping prep etc. to a longliner every second counts. I would look at a smaller trap. Many 4coil options.
I could be wrong wrong.

My mentor used 2’s exclusively and did extremely well. As said I’ve seen them hold wolves. Fast and easy to work with. Doesn’t hurt as bad is theft is an issue.
For many traps are like rifles, flavor of the month club.
