Alaska Women Write is a collection edited by Dana Stabenow that my wife enjoyed. Goodbye Boise, Hello Alaska by Cora Holmes is the story of her family's move to a ranch on Umnak Island in the Aleutians. She may also enjoy Kachemak Bay Years by Elsa Pedersen.

North of the Sun by Fred Hatfield is one of my favorites. Another good one is Alaska Game Trails with a Master Guide, this is about Hal Waugh, by Charles Keim.

I also really like Russell Anabel's writings.

You mentioned Last of the Great Brown Bear Men. It is about Pinnell and Talifson by Marvin Clark. He did a second book also, Track of the Kodiak.

Northwest of the World, by Olaf Swenson. You can find it used on Abe books. Was printed in the '40s, it should be in everyone's collection. About a Fur buyer from Seattle in northeast coastal Siberia and Alaska. He and Irwin Goldberg's dad were friends. Any trappers who have been around for a while in the NW and Alaska know Goldberg.
I know the epilogue to the book, Irwin told me about it. I'll only tell you after you read the book though.
