Dad has started on his new build. This is going to be in the style of an early English trade gun, think Bumford, Type G or Carolina gun. The barrel is a 48 inch long 20 gauge, 1 1/4 inches wide at the breech. Stock is a slab of walnut. He's got the rough profile cut in the stock, the barrel in and pinned and is working on the lock, starting with just the bare plate.

Keep the pics coming. That looks like it’s going to be a real work of art

It's a slow process for him, just a bit every day or so. I've asked him to send pics as he works on it.

I've got a fusil with the same barrel. Carries like a dream. Sexiest one I ever saw had a 57 inch barrel.

Ness, the fusil's muzzle is even with my eyebrows. Any taller and I'd need a stool. Makes the 42's seem real short after shooting it for a while.

The long sight radius is nice, have shot cloverleafed 5 shot groups at 25 yards.

Dad has made a bit more progress on the trade gun. He is working on getting the lock internals inlet and has started some basic stock shaping.
