Going to set up trails leading to my carcass pile with snares. When making a catch I would like to save the "integrity" of the trail. What is the best way y'all know to get the coyote off the trails to burn their circle elsewhere?

I’d Slide em down a wire off to the side.
Same as getting em off a roadway.

Set in an open spot where you can choke the trail backdown with branches or a piece of log.

Use a long enough snare to reach entanglement. I use trail snares 11’ long for this reason. You can also drive a kill poll or a fence post for entanglement, but that’s just more stuff to carry or haul around

Being the south and the country very few dogs know what a pen is. Try to avoid entanglement or that's the route I would use.
Slide guys any problems with chew outs or do y'all use chain?

If you can use a kill pole that would be the easiest way. If your trail Is long enough just move your snare away from the catch circle.
In my opinion the more guiding you try to do the more your target animal may avoid It. Keep things as natural as you can.

Branches and logs aren’t natural?

Not If they weren't there In the beginning. Drag a bunch of logs and branches Into switch grass area and you can't call that natural.
Sometimes less guiding Is better then trying to force a critter off It's normal path.
I've caught coon In 220s In trails where the grass was only about 2" high. And no guiding was needed. In fact if you would have placed branches and other things to guide or camouflage that trap that It would have made that trap stick out like a sore thumb. That's one way of getting a lot of refusals.

Tree limps fall to the ground all the time. A lightening strike snapped a tree in half, the top falling across an extremely used trail guess how far the new trail started from the one that got blocked off?

A log appearing in a pasture becomes an attractant in many cases.

Start in the middle and work your way out from the bait pile at a safe distance from the exposed baits. By the time a incoming critter sees the old circle it should already be caught then.

I use drags especially blind setting a trail with legholds.

Didn't Locklear say he liked rigging snares to a slide lock cable to get them off the trail fast?

IDK maybe it was Mark June. Those 2 look so much alike I cannot tell them apart!

I wish! Did that a lot on section lines in farm country with the taller ditch grass looked like crop circles when I pulled.

Here is an example of what I do. As you can see the trail with blocking works great for me. If at all possible do the blocking/guiding in off season and it will became a main corridor.

Pre season Is the way to go. Critters get use to the new stuff you drag In. I mow trails or drive the the truck through switch grass areas to create trails. I have even used Round -Up to create trails where I couldn't drive or mow.

Well I decided to cable off with a long cable. Worked pretty well although she hung up just off the trail and burnt a partial circle in the trail.

Hook your short cable to "run cable with a one way L , it will move off the trail as far as you want. End in a kill pole or use a snare that relaxes. They are there waiting
