i bought that box today was also the only 12ga that wasn't steel at Walmart. I left the other 2 boxes on the shelf which makes me not a hoarder.
they are fine for clay targets , pigeons , rats , pests ,squirrel if not too far away. they would be ok for dove but since they are migratory birds I think that you have to use steel.
I will use them for trap , I normally prefer 7 1/2 but trap season will be here before you know it and got to have some shells.
Estate is owned by Vista outdoors AKA ATK/Federal
doves are considered a migratory bird, but steel shot is only required for migratory waterfowl and some lands as described by law. I think I am getting that from all the public land around here saying doves need steel shot.

8's kill dove, quail, pigeons and the occasional teal in September just fine around here. As mentioned above at the length of a hallway they are basically a slug for indoor home protection and if that don't work turn them into cut shells. In a shtf situation cut shells can take a number of larger critters at close to moderate range. Like deer and hogs. wax slugs would be an option also

The Estate shells are pretty hard to beat at the price point. Some complain that they are dirty but honestly I can’t tell the difference between them and the more expensive shells. I took up sporting clays last year and shot a couple thousand rounds of the Estates with good luck. I just tore down my remington versa max for a 1000 round inspection and light cleaning. I was very pleased with how clean it was. All but 50 shells of that 1000 were estate.
I’ve used the for rabbits, grouse, doves, and snakes too.
I have visited 5 Walmart’s I. The last week in central WV and have seen 0 boxes of 12 gauge shells of any brand.

I shoot a lot of turkeys with 8 shot or 71/2 shot. Of course I am shooting out the back door of my house because they won't stay out of my yard. Shoot them in the head they just flop over. We have got doubles and triples several times with one shot. If you only have one tag move up to 6 shot it throws a tighter pattern.

Good for All listed above - And for trade/barter. I just traded target loads for powder and primers. Amazing that even clay target ammo is in short supply. 8's wouldn't be my top choice but if it's what's in the gun when something needs shooting they can be effective.
