Currently in my home area my rat trapping spots are a max of 26 miles round trip. When I did coons a bit harder I ran 2-3 loops at 5-7 days per loop at about 35-50 miles per loop. A friend and I travel 200 miles to stay in a place and trap rats in an area about 30-50 miles from where we stay. That is a 3-5 day trip.
Multi species lines and also land based lines in the east require 24 hour checks and one needs to be ready for weather restrictions and conditions.

3 miles to the 1st farm... about 110 mile loop for the 15-20 farms when I'm fully set... maybe 70-75 traps total depending on variables.

I would be curious to know how far Maine, NH and VT trappers cover to check their traps??

I trap my own property and abutting neighbors. As the crow flies, it's probably seven miles to access the property from my house in town. It's gated/posted property and I have access to thousands of acres due to the lay of the land. The Canadian border is my back door. A gated logging road allows me to travel throughout it.

I'd trap other places but snow and beaten trails means stolen traps around here, I've lost four traps in the past two years on heavily posted ground. I pass up a lot of good sign just getting to my property.
