Good afternoon young fellers. Today’s the big day for my Sonny boy bobby. His first trip to the big line. It might only be at half of what is usually is but the chance for him to see it is now. It’s supposed to be a warm weekend so got to take advantage. He checked one short section a couple years back in -40 weather but this will be his first real trip to see where dad has been every trapping season weekend since he was born. I’m Excited for him. Might slow me down now but In a couple years time I’ll just have to make the kids breakfast then go back to sleep until it’s time to skin their catch. Shooting a moose and a little fishing is not out of the question too. Main goal is to get one of the marten sections set up together.

Believe me I’m considering it Ian. See how the trapline treats me these next couple weeks and then I’ll decide

Was hoping for one of those 8 lynx and a wolf or wolverine trips but I had fun and bobby had fun and learned a few things so no complaints here. He’ll see those big catches eventually

Oh yeah! We did some fishing too but no fish left in the creek. Bobby fished for no more than 10 minutes and asked to go check traps instead. Fresh wolf tracks on the trail about 5 minutes from camp on the way home. I knew I heard howling on Saturday night

Warming up after a long day checking traps I was asking him if he has a girlfriend. “NO WAY MAN!” Lol.

He lost a tooth twice out there. First it fell out then he lost it.

Nice light tawney on the left. Nice job on the handling Ryan.

I stopped at a trappers cabin on Lake Menchumna on a moose hunt in the early 70's and his kids were entertained by television. They were able to get a signal from Anchorage and cartoons were the show of the day. I couldn't believe it because tv in Fairbanks wasn't that good....LOL
