What's your your favorites?

What are some you are not interested in trying again?

For a daily drinker, Templeton does fine IMO.

A friend just gave me a bottle of JD Rye. I want to give it back.

Mully, never heard of it. I'll admit that once the $$$ hits a certain point I tend to lose interest and I keep browsing

I am by no means a rye snob.

Gone are my quantity over quality days, but I'm still frugal at heart.

Wiser's de luxe is a good whiskey.

Yup, I would say crown royal and forty creek are the two best Canadian whiskeys in the mass produced reasonably priced range, certainly the most popular.

When I was in Kentucky turkey hunting a few years back I picked up a bottle of Wild Turkey Rye 101, it was good. Have not seen it up here.

Was watching an old western movie once, and a guy walked into the saloon and ordered rye whiskey.....and made a big deal out of it. Was immediately confronted by the locals (southerners) with "whats the matter.....corn not good enough for you"? And that's when the fight started.

Never saw it as a regional thing, but guess it is. Made locally from what you got to make it with....be that rye, corn or potatoes.

Wild Turkey 80 Proof is supposed to be some of the best stuff (and they have a Rye) but it has a bad wrap b/c everyone has tried 100 proof and when they think of Wild Turkey thats what they think of.

Try it if you haven't.

The old timers around here say the rye whiskey is better for diabetics and others with insulin issues. Not sure if that's true or not. Most drink whiskey in old-fashioneds.

I like the flavor of the 101 over the 80 proof, the 116.8 Rare Breed is even better. I see there is a Rare Breed Rye that is 112.2 proof

I just finished a bottle of Cody Road bourbon. It is an Iowa Distillery so I gave it a try. I was impressed. They have a Rye Whiskey too, although I have not had it.

You let some Alberta whiskey touch your lips...watch it you might want to separate.

160 users favourite mine always seems to evaporate.

To make it rye you have to use 55% rye based alcohol

I have had a couples bottles of the Wild Turkey 101 Rye and really like it. Its extra potency tends to lead to an earlier bed time. I'm interested if they make and 80 proof Rye.

Forty Creek is a new one for me, I'll have to look for it and Wiser's.

Never been a fan of Crown products, but would/will give there rye a shot.

BTomlin - While I'm not to terribly far from Iowa, I've never seen Cody Road products

BCH Templeton is my go to. Bulleit Rye is a few bucks cheaper and what most bars in my area serve. I have no complaints with it.

Knob Creek is another I have had a few times and just can't get into.

Keep all the names coming. I'm starting to build a shopping list.

I don't think you're going to find much of a disparity between good and bad rye whiskey the way you can between a basic and premium bourbon or scotch. You'll just find the best of a bunch of lousy whiskey IMO anyway.
