The U.S should stay out of this. Nothing in Burma worth an American Life. Spent time in that part of the world. Not worth it. Sarge

Sanctions could be on the way they said on the news earlier.

I agree but im curious hiw this effects geo political balance.

China has billions invested in their One Belt One Road project and think this could be part of them clearing the way.

I thought you got vacations for posting political stuff?
Is that past tense now?

I'm trying to warn you in a nice way here.

I suppose anything could be political.

Law Dog is right. This is about world events. Admittedly there is a political twinge to it but thats not the objective here.

The US should stay out. We have Vietnam and Thailand for allies. Support them, let them take care of things on their doorstep. We have enough to worry about here and with 2 combat zones for the past 20 years.

This is about world events, lets get enough allies on board, don't go alone. Strength in numbers. Sarge

I wouldn't make too much of it. I was in Thailand once during a coup, it was pretty much a non-event for 99% of the population. SE Asian Countries and their people take this kind of thing in stride.

Not long now and the middle east wars will kick off again ....... I hear US troops already went into Syria. So that should get expensive enough without stirring the pot in some other place.

Anybody wonder if the Burma issue is going to be deemed to need foreign intervention from the US in cooperation with China, requiring Biden to enter some agreement and share military tech with the PRC? whistle

I think its more likely that US and China will be rivals in this one.

I heard something similar from a friend that was there during one of the Thai coups. Said that it was like two different universes. Day to day folks went on with their lives while the elite were the ones worried. The only difference he said he noticed was military traffic.

The news on the radio here ( here comes my vacation? ) said this coup was over a fraudulent election. That piqued my interest the most and makes it interesting to me as to how, if at all, we stick our noses into this.

I tried to avoid that but if we keep it in Burma im hoping we'll be safe.
Burma has pretty much been a military dictatorship since the 50s. Only in the last decade have they allowed elections. You would think that a democratically elected government would be better but in the last few years Wisconsin has seen an influx of Rohinga refugees because of the government's persecution of them.

The media will make much of it in an effort to draw some twisted parallel with what the Democrats are claiming happened here. These people are sick.
