The greatest (nicest) people I have found and dealt with are from WY, North & South Dakota. I beleive the nicest people live in all of the mid west thou but haven't dealt with southern states.

I know which state has some of the worst, Hawaii.
Visited the place Nov. 2019, glad to get the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) out of the place.
The only nice ones were ones that were born elsewhere and migrated into Hawaii. Is Hawaii a wealthy State? One would think they'd appreciate the tourist dollar.

I think its like Northern Wi, They hate the tourists but greedily take the money that they provide.

Rural Nebraska also has very friendly people. I pulled in to a gas station off of I-80 once to fill up. A farmer pulled into the other side of the pump then came over and started talking to me like we had know each other for the past 30 years. [/quote]

I also noticed ranchers are much more friendly to trappers than hunters!

It really varies from town to town I think. There may be some states where in general the people are nice, but I'll bet even in those States you can find towns that do not fit the norm.
I know of one small town in Alaska where the people would literally give you the shirt off their back. And then another small town which isn't all that far away, maybe about 40 miles, where the people are notoriously snobbish and clannish.

There are nice people in every state. Sometimes it's just hard to find them.
^^THIS I've lived in 11 states from NC up to PA over thru OH, Misery and all the way to ID and Or and Ut and down thru OK , etc. and did not find any friendlier than the other. There's dipsticks in ALL states. I don't know if being a blue collar guy has anything to do with it or not.

I think it's a rural vs urban thing! Exactly the case in Kentucky. The entire state is friendly and red except the Lexington and Louisville area. Alabama and Virginia are nice people Tennessee people are too except when it comes to their football, or used to.

I think it's a rural vs urban thing! Maybe. I grew up thinking Maine people were some of nicest folks you'd ever want to meet. That's an easy perception to take on when you grow up some place and know everyone and everyone knows you. My wife's family is from Massachusetts and she said according to Steinbeck (Travels with Charley), Maine people are some of the coldest, most unfriendly people you will come across. She agreed with Steinbeck and said people from Mass were much friendlier than people from Maine. We argued about it all the time. After spending quite a bit of time in Massachusetts and with that debate in mind, I started to pay attention to her claim to see if there was anything to it. Again, it's all about perception but after having visited there many times I've come to the conclusion she is right. Maine people suck.

I would add MT to that list too. But I don’t go to the big cities here. Southern states are some of the rudest people in USA.
