Let’s generalize- what states tend to have the nicest people? Based on my observations, I would vote for:
Iowa and/or Tennessee

Wisconsin is nice when the people from Illinois are not up here

Wisconsin, UP, Tennessee.


With that being said I've been wonderful people everywhere and some real jackwagons everywhere.

Again, the population centers are going to ruin this for a lot of states. lol

Growing up in rural Iowa, it's a different world than the way people treat others in cities and more populous states. It makes a big difference when everyone pretty much knows everyone else and their families.

North Dakota

oddly, some of the nicest people I have worked with and been around are people from New Hampshire. New England is strange. People in Connecticut are jerks, people in Massachusetts taught the people in Connecticut how to be jerks, Road Island, all three of it's citizens are jerks. However, you pass the magical boarder line from Mass into New Hampshire and everyone is nice and friendly. It's like a different world.
Rural Texas has very friendly people.
Rural Nebraska also has very friendly people. I pulled in to a gas station off of I-80 once to fill up. A farmer pulled into the other side of the pump then came over and started talking to me like we had know each other for the past 30 years.

There are nice people in every state. Sometimes it's just hard to find them.

Not Arkansas. Too many out of staters have moved in.

Getting to where one would have to move to California to get away from the Californians in these parts.

I have lived in 7 states, all had some nice people in them. For the most part, if you are nice to others they are nice to you. I think the people I met while living in Kentucky were the friendliest.

Being from east Tennessee it's common for every car that passes to wave their hand at you, most people still hold the door for ya and speak when you cross paths. I don't care for Florida much but I know there's good people in every state. The true floridians are nice southerners but it's all the wealthy snobs from the NE that move down there that make it seem like a unfriendly state. Southern Ohio has great people too, I don't know about the rest of the state. North Carolina is full of halfbacks, the snobs from the NE that move to Florida but it is to hot so they come to the mountains to buy a summer home, they make the western part of NC not so good. I'm sure they are great people and low life's everywhere u go

I agree with this statement. I would underscore SD. These states also like to mind their own business and that in itself is friendly in my opinion. LLL

Not that I get there too often anymore but I always got a kick out of walking downtown Toronto, smiling and greeting people as I pass them like Canadians typically do in rural areas. Most have a worried look like they think you've escaped from an asylum.

Gal servers in restaurants through the States and especially Georgia were sure sweat hearts.
