True,
but could that be partly because the 330's were not tuned to trip with 1/2" trigger travel as opposed the 2-3" travel from the factory?

That's not it at all. It's due to the beaver or otter potentially getting much deeper into the trap before it fires.

This was my experience trapping bank dens under ice. I just think when they come out of a bank den, they can have some speed. Even big beaver can get into a 330 a long way.

It's just something to consider. It really doesn't much matter with the market the way it is.

In my part of NY regulations make us put the trigger wires together, 8 inches from one side on a 330, straight up and down and no longer than 6 1/2 inches. This is in southern zone closed for otter regions. And yes I tune my triggers and get hip caught beaver sometimes, usually small ones. But that's the law

I like a wish bone shape.
Not exactly the question asked, but Boco brings up a good point. When staking my traps I will stake away from the set so the beaver will get away from the set to die. Some times they would expire away from the set and then other times they would be DOA right where the trap set was. One day it occurred to me to set my triggers so that the beaver was farther in the trap when it fired so that it doesn't strike the beaver behind the head. It lets him flop and roll away from the set. Hope this makes sense.

When that trap Is totally under water then those wires are centered In the opening and they hang down from the the top.

I use the T method but I put a double ferrule on the trigger wires it seems that this makes the trigger wires last longer for me

I like the split ring on the eye of the spring.

Attaching the chain/swivel rig to the trap. They work well. Have them on most of my body grips. This otter worked it hard but the old Vic 220 got him.

Top pick is my beaver trigger set up

Bottom pick....using a snare swivel tool...to make a nice swivel and tag holder
